About Joy
Joy Yin is a musician, artist, and free-soul in life. She has an unique approach to teaching that helps her students fall in love with creation, not only in music, but also in art and life. Having a film background enables her to bring acting techniques into teaching and playing; it’s not just musical notes her students are playing, but a story they’re telling.
Joy is classically trained in ABRSM as well as RCM methods, and has worked with students across all ages. She has worked extensively with RCM examiners along with other prominent pianists across different cultures. You can also find her as a hand-double actress playing the piano in the film “Bones of Crows”. She has performed with the Kelowna German choir as the accompanist, and attended various performances. With Joy's teaching style, the students will learn to use the musical language and speak it their way, finding themselves having the freedom and power in their hands to create magic.
Students in Joy’s classroom will enjoy a life-long appreciation of music and occasionally tackle exams, festivals, recitals and/or other performances with her dedicated support.
Joy teaches all levels of study (beginner, intermediate, advanced) to students ages 3 to 20 years old.
