Pleasant Mountain Music invited to participate in International Stretto Piano Festival, 2026

The Small Hands Piano Club program at Pleasant Mountain Music is humming away in the background. Back in May 2026, False Creek Elementary School invited SHPC to join them for their Carnival fundraiser! This fall, another amazing opportunity comes our way: an invite to participate in the International Stretto Piano Festival!

Pleasant Mountain Music will host the Small Hands Piano Club performance on Friday October 30 from 6:15-7:30pm. This is a completely free event, but seating is limited so registration is recommended. Performances will include 2-3 of Pleasant Mountain Music piano instructors, as well as 1-2 student performances. After the performances, audience members are encouraged to try out the keyboards for themselves! Don’t be shy, it’s a really neat experience!

If October 30th is not a good day for attending this concert, we invite members of the public to check out the Instagram page for the SHPC. From October 30th until end of November, short clips of performers will be featured on the Instagram page. Additionally, the Pleasant Mountain Music YouTube page will display the livestream video of the performance.

A note from the Stretto Piano Concert Series:
2026 is our first year celebrating the manufacturers who are making a difference by building pianos with narrow piano keys for artists everywhere. We intend for every subsequent festival year to be even more fruitful, with more and more makers joining this initiative via our concerts! With each new piano and keyboard manufacturer joining the festival, we include more artists everywhere who play “stretto” narrow keys, and who now have the opportunity to study, rehearse, and perform with them.

Our concerts were the first global public events where pianists could experience strettos for the first time since 2021. Fulfilling the function of a showroom before there were showrooms with narrow keys, we always aim to satisfy all pianists, to give them a choice of piano key-size for concerts and to introduce them to innovative new products. After every live concert with in-person audiences, we invite audience members to the stage to try narrow-key pianos.

Experience is the tried and true way to communicate the benefits and value that narrow keys offer, and playing concerts is the best way to reach new stretto players in 2026.

More about the instruments being used for the concert
Pleasant Mountain Music is pleased to host the Small Hands Piano Club including the showcase Narrow Key pianos made by Athena brand. The creator of Athena Narrow Key keyboards is none other than Victoria BC resident, and acclaimed concert pianist Linda Gould! The Small Hands Piano Club could not have taken off without access to an affordable instrument (by comparison to the more expensive acoustic upright or grand pianos which are beautiful and definitely worth aspiring to, but beyond the means of our fledgling club at the moment).

Speaking of Narrow Key keyboards, Athena and the Small Hands Piano Club have a deal until the end of 2026 to provide a discount on the purchase of a 201 or 301 keyboard. We also have the option to collect the interest of a minimum of 5 purchasers to put in a bulk order: the bulk order would provide a discount on the purchase of the instrument as well as free shipping.
