John has been involved in music and performance arts since the tender age of 3 years old. He started as a recorder player, moved to alto-horn and then finally found his home as a trumpet player. Although, the trumpet is John's specialty, he also has experience playing and teaching flugelhorn, cornet, trombone, french horn, recorder, and tuba as well!
John has 8 years of music school under his belt which includes 4 years of musical college and a 4 year bachelor degree from an international music institution. Along side his education and training, John has also enjoyed being a participant in a wide variety of music groups including orchestras, bands, and ensembles. He is quite cosmopolitan and has lived and worked around the world, including in Europe, Turkey, and in China (for 6 years).
As a teacher, John is patient, calm, and student-oriented. He is flexible in his approach to helping his students learn and retain concepts, and he is inspiring to his students: he focuses on each individual student's needs, goals, and objectives to plan lessons and choose repertoire to learn. John's favorite music genres is Jazz, especially Hard Bop and experimental, as well as Hip-Hop, Punk, Rock and Metal. But he is happy to teach a variety of genres from concert band and classical repertoire, to film, television and video game songs.
When John isn't teaching, he likes composing/arranging/recording his own pieces of music, participating in movie productions (mostly as a sound recordist), and having fun with one of a dozen hobbies that he has.
Fun Fact: John's favorite dog breeds are English bulldog, St. Bernard, Newfoundland, and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
