About Daniel

Daniel was nine years old when he seemed to suddenly take up an interest in the violin. His mother had shown him a 1900s comedian and violinist named Jack Benny — who became someone Daniel idolized very much. Since then, he had been taking lessons with Sora Kim all the way until he had to move away for university.
Daniel frequently participated in and was encouraged to take up several chamber string groups and orchestras from a young age, and continues to maintain a passion for all things music. He began with classical training and the Suzuki method, and liked to experiment and explore other genres including jazz and country. When not in a performance setting, he also lends his sound to music producer friends, including one who currently studies at Berklee College of Music.
While the violin is considered his main instrument, he also dabbles in other instruments. Daniel taught himself the upright bass for five years for school bands, and also taught himself the cello in a few hours for fun. More recently, Daniel is teaching himself the Chinese erhu, and is interested in learning as many stringed instruments as he can.
When not doing music, Daniel runs his own video game studio called Second Fiddle Studio. He’s traveled across Canada and the United States to demo his games for conventions and showcases, and has received many awards and opportunities. His most recent project, Grey Wake, is his biggest work.
Among all his passions, music and the violin continues to be one of Daniel’s biggest. Inspired by his own teacher of nine years, he always intended on becoming a teacher and got his very first experience in his first year of high school. Daniel values a welcoming, safe environment above all over strict teaching methods, and hopes to cultivate the same passions he has in the ones he guides. He hopes to continue having a career in teaching, while developing his games and maintaining his other passions.
