Small Hands Piano Club

WHAT DO BICYCLES, SHOES, GLOVES, GUITARS, VIOLINS, AND EVEN RECORDERS HAVE IN COMMON? They ALL come in different sizes (from small to large). Do you know what DOESN’T come in different sizes? PIANO KEYBOARDS.

Until now that is…

Landing at Pleasant Mountain Music in JANUARY 2026 is a brand new development in keyboard offerings, the small-scale piano (also called a short scale piano, narrow key piano, or alternatively sized piano).

Technically, this is the revival of a very old practice in piano making, for the modern era, but either way, we at PMM couldn’t be more pleased about this!

About the Small Hand Piano

The Small Hands Piano Club has been made possible by the arrival of the Narrow Keys Athena digital piano. The Athena is professional quality digital piano, that just happens to have smaller keys. The width of an octave on the Athena is 5.5″ compared to 6.5″ for a standard piano. This opens up intervals and chords that are quite literally impossible for some people to play on the standard sized instrument. Even people with larger hands may still appreciate the spacing of the Athena. Is the Athena small? Or maybe all the other pianos are actually too big?
